Is It Permissible To Move In Tarāwīḥ or Any Other Ṣalāḥ To Prevent Harm From A Child by Shaykh Dr. ʿAbdullah ibn Ṣulfīq aẓ-Ẓafīrī

Pivotal Quote

“Moving out of necessity during the ṣalāh, if it is a slight movement is okay and it does not invalidate the ṣalāh.

Question:

We have a one-year old daughter and sometimes during Tarāwīḥ I have to make movements that are not part of the ṣalāh in order to prevent her from doing something dangerous like touching the electric socket etc. So do these movements invalidate my ṣalāh?

Answer:

Moving out of necessity during the ṣalāh, if it is a slight movement is okay and it does not invalidate the ṣalāh. If the young girl is distracting everyone who is around her, perhaps she should be kept away from those who are performing Tarāwīḥ. But if a person is to move in order to prevent a child from being harmed during the ṣalāh, then there is no problem with this. And Allāh knows best.
