After The ʿEid Prayer Should We Greet Our Family and Friends and What Is The Most Authentic ʿEid Greeting by Shaykh Sālim ibn ʾAbdullah Bāmiḥriz

Pivotal Quote

“Yes, we continue to congratulate and greet one another after the ʿEid prayer, and the most authentic duʿāʾ we can say to one another on this occasion is,

تَقَبَّلَ اللهُ مِنَّا وَمِنْكُم صَالِحَ الأعْمَال

May Allāh accept from us and from you our righteous deeds.”

Question:

Once the ʿEid prayer is completed at home should family still greet each other? What is the best and authenticated supplication after the ʿEid prayer is done?

Answer:

Yes, we continue to congratulate and greet one another after the ʿEid prayer, and the most authentic duʿāʾ we can say to one another on this occasion is,

تَقَبَّلَ اللهُ مِنَّا وَمِنْكُم صَالِحَ الأعْمَال

May Allāh accept from us and from you our righteous deeds.

Because the season that has passed is a great season for performing righteous deeds, so we say this in hopes that Allāh would accept them from us.

Additionally, the wording that was mentioned does not have to be this exact wording because we do not have a specific wording conveyed to us by the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). So anything that carries this meaning is permissible.
