Question:

Is there a double reward for making up fasts from Ramaḍān in Dhul Ḥijjah?

Answer:

If a person intends to delay the making up of the days of Ramaḍān until Dhul Ḥijjah, then no doubt the reward is multiplied and that is from the fiqh of an individual that he delays the making up of these days until this time. A point that should be mentioned is that the origin is that a righteous action that is to be made up should be performed with immediacy, as quickly as possible, but if it does occur that an individual delayed the making up of his days from Ramaḍān, and then the days of Dhul Ḥijjah come upon him, rather than performing them before Dhul Ḥijjah, it is better for him to delay the performance of these actions until the ten days of Dhul Ḥijjah and gather between making up his days of Ramaḍān and fasting during the days of Dhul Ḥijjah. There is no doubt in this Khair and barakah and from the good fiqh that he should do so now.
