Is It Permissible To Learn The Qurʾān With The Intention To Teach It by Shaykh Dr. ʿAbdullah ibn Ṣulfīq aẓ-Ẓafīrī

Pivotal Quote

“This person will be one of those whom the Messenger of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وسلم) addressed when he said, “The best of you are those who learn the Qurʾān and teach it to others.” When a person has the intention while memorising the Book of Allāh to worship Allāh, to come closer to Allāh, and teach others how to properly recite and understand the Book of Allāh, then this person is in jihād, and he is in daʿwah.”

Question:

Is it permissible for a person who is currently memorising the Qurʾān to have the intention of teaching it once he finishes his memorisation?

Answer:

Yes, this is permissible; and this is a great intention. When a person is memorising the Qurʾān, he is intending thereby to have the Book of Allāh in his chest, such that he can stand at night and recite it and pray to Allāh with it. And he additionally has the intention of when he finishes, to teach other people how to do the same—and this is from the best of intentions.
