Question and Answer [1:00 Mins]
Question:
Is it permissible for a woman to travel with her non-Muslim father as a maḥram?
Answer:
According to the majority of the scholars, this is allowed. As highlighted by Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn (رحمه الله), “It is allowed for a Muslim woman to travel with her non-Muslim father as a maḥram, with the condition that the father can be trusted and that the daughter is safe with him.” A person may ask, “What is the situation where the daughter is not safe with her non-Muslim father?” Then, the example that has been mentioned by the scholars of the past is in the case of the Majūsi (Zoroastrian), because they held that incest was lawful. May Allāh (سبحانه و تعالى) protect us all, wallāhu a’lam.
