Can Laylatul Qadr Be On Different Nights Based on Different Opinions of Moonsighting by Shaykh Dr. ʿAbdullah ibn Ṣulfīq aẓ-Ẓafīrī

Pivotal Quotes

“…it is one night, so is the case that one of them is correct and the other one is not.”

Question:

It is known that the Muslims differ in their sightings of the moon and so the odd nights for the people fasting in one country would not be the odd nights for the people fasting in another country. Is it the case that Laylatul Qadr can be on different nights for the different countries, or is the case that one is correct over the other? Can it be on one night or can it be on more than one night in the same year?

Answer:

Allāh (عز وجل) mentioned this night in the singular form, meaning that it is one night, so is the case that one of them is correct and the other one is not. It cannot be that Laylatul Qadr can be on two different nights because two different countries cited the moon on two different days. So it is one night and one of them is correct and the other is not and Allāh knows best.
