A part of an answer to a question about seeing the jinn posed to Shaykh Abū Ḥakīm Bilāl Davis for our 6th session of Mpubs’ End of Summer 2022 Seminar entitled, “The Life of The Prophet ﷺ In Years,” at Masjid ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbaas, Tobago. The Shaykh gave an explanation from the Qur’an and Sunnah for what might often be mistaken and “alien abduction.” Mentioning the narration found in the Sunan of Abū Dāwūd, authenticated by Shaykh al-Albānī, where
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
فَإِنَّ لِلْجِنِّ اِنْتِـشَارًا وَ خَطْفَةً
‘The Jinn spread across the land and kidnap.’
The shaykh then mentioned a story from the the time of ʿUmar Ibn Al-Khaṭṭāb (رضى الله عنه) where a man was married to a woman and disappeared for 2 years straight. They presumed he was dead after missing for 2 years. His estate was split (for inheritance) and his wife remarried, and then the man returned. When asked where he was, he replied, ‘verily I was abducted by the Jinn!’
